iMac Pro: Taking Power to a Whole New Level

iMac Pro
Apple first hit the market with its Macintosh in the year 1984. It then brought out many products since then that we have grown to love and admire, whether we are able to afford it or not. IPhones, Apple watches, Apple TVs , ITunes, Apple Pay are some of the stuff that Apple has brought out to us combining great quality with an even greater price tag. Now Apple brings to you the iMac Pro, “The most powerful iMac ever”

Adding to the power of the iMac Pro is its cost. The cheapest model out there costs about 5599 euros. With that money you get a 27 inch retina display, 32 GB RAM, 8 core processor and 1 TB of storage. Announced in June, Apple has begun rolling out the iMac Pros to its customers.

Getting down to the Design of the iMac Pro:

With all that power comes a lot of responsibility. The iMac Pro also has a lot to do when it comes to cooling down. With all the power that it is supposed to handle, getting the system to cool down was on the priority. The iMac Pro comes with an all new thermal system, which delivers 80% more cool down than previous models with the same quietness as earlier models.

The iMac Pro also features 10 Gb Ethernet which gives you 10 times the networking speed.

The iMac Pro is 5mm at edge with a new space grey color. The iMac Pro is also accompanied with the usual magic mouse, magic keyboard and depending on the model you opt for a magic trackpad. The unit also comes with 4 microphones, a 1080 FaceTime HD camera and great speakers that are a lot louder than its predecessor.

IMac Pro’s great performance:

The iMac Pros are available with different processors starting from 8 core Intel xenon processors all the way up to an 18 core processor. Apple also did not take graphics lightly with the iMac Pro coming with up to 22 teraflops of performance. This is all packed behind a 5K 27 inch retina display.
With the iMac Pro you get immersive VR, great photography tech, 3D rendering, intensive developer workflows and massive audio projects. They were really not kidding around with this machine.

The iMac Pro was made to handle the most intense of work keeping in mind all professions.

Security with the iMac Pro:

The iMac Pro also contains the T2 chip. This chip combines system management controller, audio controller, image signal processor and SSD controller. The T2 also has a secure enclave processor that provides the basis for encrypted storage and secure booting capabilities.

AES hardware ensures that data is encrypted without affecting performance in anyway and the secure boot ensures that only trusted software is allowed to boot.

Apple is also planning to release an all new Mac Pro with a whole new level of redesigning involved. We can’t wait to see what the new Mac Pro is all about.

Apple – Refreshing the iMac Line-up

iMac
A recent report from French blog site, MacGeneration has revealed that Apple would very soon upgrade the iMac and will be refreshing the iMac line-up most probably by next week which will be accompanied with speed upgrades.

With four flavours of Apple’s ultra-thin all in one, the site has portrayed the potential upgrades such as: the $1,499 21.5 inch 2.9 GHz version which would see its CPU speed increase by a full 3 GHz while its Turbo Boost feature that automatically manages individual cores of the processor for improved power efficiency as well as performance would go up from 3.6 GHz to 3.7 GHz.

According to MacGeneration, the $1,299 inch 2.7 GHz would have no changes. While the $1,799 27 inch 3.2 GHz variant would be increasing its processor speed to 3.3 GHz together with a Turbo Speed bump from 3.6 GHz to 3.7 GHz, the $1,999 27 inch 3.4 GHz version would increase in CPU speed to 3.5 GHz and the Turbo Speed’s performance would grow from 3.8 GHz to 3.9GHz.

These speeds are for the basic models and buyers can upgrade the speed of both the processor and the Turbo Boost when configuring the unit by paying a small fee.

Improvements – Higher Resolution Retina Display

Since its last redesign in late 2012, the iMac has retained the same look and it has greatly benefited from minor upgrades during its processing power.

Though it is not known when Apple would be changing the design of the already thin looking all in one computer, users are hoping to get at least other improvements like a higher resolution Retina Display. Presuming the details of the report to be true, presently, it seems that with this latest upgrade to the iMac, it would not be offering a Retina Display option.

Rumours have been coming in for some time that Apple would be bringing the higher resolution Reina Display to the iMac and a 5,120 x 2,880 pixel wallpaper image which has been released by Apple somewhere last year had hinted that a Retina display would be destined for the iMac together with external monitors.

Apple to expand the Technology to iMac

Apple’s MacBook Pro line-up for long had been supporting a Retina Display like the iPhone and iPad and potential buyers are going through frustration since Apple has not yet expanded the technology to the iMac or the MacBook Air.

From a recent clue from Appleinsider, it was suggested that this would be the year for the Retina Display iMac and a code discovered in the beta of Apple’s recently announced OS X 10.10 Yosemite OS shows higher resolution setting for an unknown computer which would be the iMac.

Soon Apple would be releasing the new iMac models as per insider sources and instead of fancy new Retina displays, the upgrade is expected to be little more than minor processor speed bumps. Moreover, according to some sources speaking with the France based MacG website, the processor speed upgrade may also come with an updated Thunderbolt 2 connector along with a little price drop

iMac 2013 with ultrafast Wi -Fi 802.11ac ?

The iMac is the first computer to take full advantage of Wi -Fi 802.11ac . MacBook Air 2013 already provides support for this standard, but the fact that has only two antennas, they are not able to reach the theoretical bandwidth of 1.3 Gb / s. They reach the best 867 Mb / s. iMac 2013 with AirPort Time Capsule 2 TB that was tested last June. And as shown in the capture and it managed to get a theoretical speed transmission 1300 Mb / s.The tests were conducted in a relatively overloaded in terms of Wi-Fi routers middle and got to hang this famous figure with the iMac near the AirPort Base Station. Both devices were a meter away.

Still, the transmission speed displayed was extremely unstable and most cases ranged between 867 Mb / s and 1300 Mb / s.We have not seen improvements with the tests that we carried out with the MacBook Air Haswell. And this is a surprise for us. In the best case, we have peaks at 60 MB / s (480 Mb / s). With MacBook Air, you already got similar numbers. Ethernet, on the same network, we get in the best case speeds twice as good. Still, the difference with the 802.11n Wi-Fi is pretty significant. We conducted tests of raw performance with WiFiPerf utility. And the difference in rates observed between 2013 iMac and MacBook Air 2012 ( therefore in 802.11n Wi-Fi ) is more than clear. The first is on average two times faster than the second.

Vizio: an entry in the PC design

Earlier this year at CES in Las Vegas, the American Vizio, maker of televisions and Blu-ray players, unveiled its first line of future PC. Piece of portable and whose lines were familiar. A few iMac, MacBook Air a little, a touch of Magic Trackpad all coated aluminum. The Verge dedicated a portrait of this California-born 10 years ago, now just over 400 employees and who managed against all odds to climb to first place in sales of HDTVs in the U.S...

iTunes: how to improve it? - II

Fill gaps in iTunes

These applications are quite independent of iTunes: they will break your habits and will not allow you to return easily to the reader from Apple if necessary. If you're not quite allergic to iTunes, maybe can fill its gaps before removing its icon from the Dock.

iTunes software is an old that takes into account end badly and internet options to complete the musical experience with contextual information. Wikit (2.99 €) is a small application that will display information from Wikipedia on the artist, album and song courses.

iTunes: how to improve it? - I

iTunes is a software unloved: symbol of the rebirth of Apple, he also manages the music videos, TV shows, podcasts, books, applications, ringtones, serves as a drive, shop and plant synchronization and backup, and you name it.

An overdose of functions that does not mask some of its shortcomings, and that only reinforces the frustration with this essential Mac. Some software and tips can still improve it ... or just replace it.

Graphics cards, spots on the screens: the little cares of the iMac

Defective graphics cards, spots on the screen, the latest iMac were not without their problems more or less important and more or less accepted by Apple. Problems all the more annoying than the iMac is a machine all-in-a dedicated closed to the public and therefore difficult to repair. While a new generation iMac must be submitted by the summer, we should review these concerns conception.

Buying a Mac for Christmas

The holiday season approaching, and with them the traditional gifts. Whether you want a Mac to provide a loved one ... or yourself, here are some tracks. It is all general advice and our favorite heart to guide you, not quick fixes that apply to all - hunting gifts would be less funny if not.

A Mac with less than 800 €?

If your maximum budget is less than € 800, quite clear limits are needed.

Testimonials: The SuperDrive - II

Officiate at least two drives in the picture or video of weddings. The DVDs are then subject 'popular when it comes to pass his work to its customers "have a physical medium,' something 'to give, still waiting" says Nquoi. The USB key is not the same "value" (it does not fit either in a standalone player ...) and these files can represent a few gigabytes, you can not transfer them over the Internet.

It is true that the TV box or know how to use memory sticks, and a Dropbox account or an FTP server can handle (relatively) large volumes. But in a context of sharing that connects several individuals, the equipment they have and their relationship to technology are sometimes very far.

Apple / Sony: not a good design

Sony and Apple has made a reputation for design including its phones. Rob Beschizza on the blog Boing Boing is a pretext for leaving some time ago of the Vaio Z, a competitor to the MacBook Air 13 ", to parallel the way in which the two companies are changing their ultraportables.

Logitech and Apple's new deal

There is an inspiration for Apple-Logitech. At a conference yesterday with analysts, CEO Guerrino De Luca detailed the mistakes and problems in recent times by specialist accessories. De Luca led Logitech for several years and took over the operational management this summer after the poor performance of the CEO in place (before he made a long career at Claris and Apple Europe and Apple US, marketing, before s' go away in 1998 after the return of Jobs).

Apple: a multinational support themselves finally

For many years, the financial position of Apple is growing at an exceptional rate, without the company itself follows. This has often earned the nickname Apple "start-up multinational." In 2011, the Cupertino company seems to have taken the measure of his status.

A number of employees rose sharply

49 400 employees in FTE (full-time equivalent), Apple has increased to 60 400 FTE employees, with a further 2,900 FTE employees who are consultants or part-time. Apple now hiring more than 10,000 people per year, equivalent to half of its payroll in 2008.

Latest slogan of Steve Jobs

If sketched recent years, various manuals bloom to reproduce the winning method of Steve Jobs, they obscure the essential ingredient: the man himself. Number of Cassandras have announced the end of Apple with Jobs that of both the man and his company have seemed inseparable, supporting their argument on the dark years of Apple in the absence of Jobs (and conveniently forgetting well the huge difference in context). Without his visionary angel in charge, who may well spur engineers and designers, and push them toward excellence? The error is precisely to try to do without Jobs.

Testing MacBook Pro 13 "2.3 GHz Core i5" Thunderbolt "(early 2011)

Sandy Bridge processors with new micro-architecture, Intel Graphics GPU HD 3000, a new O Thunderbolt: Apple has pressed the accelerator pedal with his new MacBook Pro without the radical change. The entry-level Core i5 finally happening after years of Core 2 Duo without earning a penny.

The game of seven errors

Very clever man who could be distinguished from the first glance a MacBook 13 "Core i5 to a 2011 MacBook Pro 13" Core 2 Duo 2010 as the differences are minimal.

Apple quietly released new MacBook Pro

The new MacBook Pro were not expected until next week, but they are already available in the Apple Store. Apple has not even closed its online store for the occasion: this update is pretty minor in the program with new processors, hard drives slightly larger and more powerful graphics cards for the 15 and 17 inches. The previous models were dated February if we forget the change of keys on the occasion of the release of OS X Lion. This review is timely appointed to the holiday season and it can wait before the release of Ivy Bridge, the new platform that Intel is behind schedule and will not be available until early spring 2012 .

Which iMac To Choose? Part.III

The model 27 "does not allow you to choose your processor, unlike the 21.5", which you can spend i5 Quad 2.7 GHz Core i7 Quad 2.8 GHz, an option 200 € may consider that those who want maximum power in a small footprint. The option that will turn over your iMac will still be adding an SSD though expensive (600 € for a 256 GB SSD, 750 € for a 512 GB SSD), this operation is rather complicated to do it even then (it will make all the components or so), and radically changes the profile of the iMac.

Machine father, the iMac becomes a little racing machine far more fluid, responsive to win this immediacy own SSD. The parameters to be considered at the time of this choice are many: the cost first, but the actual use you make of this machine and depreciation potential of this option over time. If you are not quite sure you post these questions, it is likely that the SSD is too big a pill to swallow: not so sure that the disk Western Digital Caviar Black 7200 RPM SATA III fitted to these iMac is not only quiet but also very fast (120 MB / s average flow against 160 MB / s average flow for the SSD Apple iMac mounted in 2011), and should not hamper you more than that.

If the price is not an obstacle and prefers the iMac to Mac Pro, there's always the option Royal: 27 "Core i7 Quad 3.4 GHz and an SSD. A configuration that will search the € 2 699 (300 € more than the Mac Pro "Basic"), but in our tests revealed a simply enormous potential.

This impulse potential is the same machine can you keep a cool head to this new range: the power of the platform Sandy Bridge, which is valid on this machine, is also on the rest of the range. The 2011 range is actually very reasonable and the choice is rather easy: all is a matter of needs (large slab or not, SSD or not) - and means (or no options). Whatever your choice, the range of 2011 iMac is consistent as ever, and all the component machines are efficient, well equipped and comfortable.

Which iMac To Choose? Part.II

IMac 21.5 "accompanied by an Apple LED Cinema Display 24". We often tend to emphasize the difference in definition between these two screen sizes (1920x1080 "Full HD" to 21.5 ", 2560x1440px for 27"), but we sometimes forget that these machines are primarily objects - and large objects. With its 52.8 cm wide and 45.1 cm high, the iMac 21.5 "figure of Tom Thumb is next to the iMac 27", spread over 65 cm wide and 51.7 cm. It is wrong to be fooled by the appearance of these air machines: they are 20 cm deep and then spread on a desk. This aspect must also be borne in mind at the time of choice.

The tests
- Testing the iMac 21.5 "Core i5 Quad 2.5 GHz, the" small "range
- Testing the iMac 27 "Core i5 Quad 2.7 GHz, the heart of the range also comes in 21"

Within a range, it is tempting to take the model is the most powerful and most expensive in the leaves to change later (which is difficult in the case of the iMac) or take cheapest model and the bard of options. The iMac does not escape this tension.

Side 21.5 ", the choice seems pretty quick: Apple severely limits the capacity of development of entry-level model. At € 1 149, it represents the choice of those who want an iMac without puncture their portfolio, population that Apple prohibits update the processor or the purchase of a first-hand SSD - but to whom she re peddle a 500 GB hard drive only. The performances are excellent Fortunately, thanks to the adoption of the Sandy Bridge platform.
In the heart of the range, things are less simple: once a choice of 21.5 "and 27" made, you may be tempted by a slightly more powerful processor or a little more RAM or a SSD. As always with the Apple Store, the rule is simple: do not buy what is the easiest way to change you, and think about the choice of what is the most complicated to modify in the future. RAM? Apple sells 4 GB € 200, three times the price in trade.

Which iMac To Choose? Part.I

You have scrutinized their specifications in detail; you know previously the Mac Generation tests, but nothing to do: you cannot decide for this iMac model over another. Perhaps you hesitate between 21.5 "and 27", and indeed between the "low" end and "high" quality, not to mention the SSD option. Here are some items to help you choose.

The choice of screen diagonal is perhaps not the easiest choice: Apple has smoothed its range even more than usual, and there is now no difference between the major design iMac 21.5 "and 27" iMac screen ... apart. Both models have four memory banks PC3-10600 (1333MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM and can accommodate a SSD in addition to their hard drive (except the first 21.5 "), while the model 27" was previously advantage. The only material difference is iMac 27 "Thunderbolt have two ports, the iMac 21.5" have only one.

Segmentation is a much more quiet than before: the model of 21.5 ", you can have a 2.8 GHz Core i7 optional, but the 27" you can go up to 3.4 GHz. The iMac 21.5 "is limited to a graphics card with 512 MB VRAM, but you can get the side of the Radeon 6970M and 2 GB of VRAM with the 27". The iMac 27 "is indeed what it takes to feed all that beautiful world (310 against 205 W for 21.5 W"), but the differences end there: there is no hole in iMac range between entry level and a weak heart but more powerful range of flying a bit too fast in the price range.

The heart of the range, in fact, now consists of what is in fact a single machine available in two screen sizes: an iMac Core i5 Quad 2.7 GHz, 4 GB, 1 TB of disk and Card AMD Radeon HD 6770M with 512 MB VRAM. You will pay € 200 while the 5.5 "diagonal.

Testing the 27 "iMac" Thunderbolt - part V

Even in the video where the Mac Pro is traditionally at home, Westmere processors marking time: we find the fine balance between the raw frequency and the number of cores, which directly determines the performance for different applications. Handrake, for example, recognizes only core logic: this iMac is fighting against is with four cores to eight cores Westmere Mac Pro to € 3 400. But Handbrake does not take advantage of all the subtleties of Xeon processors, while the raw frequency is a key element of its operation: the iMac, with half of a good heart but more than the gigahertz Mac Pro, dominates with insolence. He can deal with anything against the twelve core Mac Pro to € 8 300: the frequency difference is less important than offset by the use of three times as many hearts.

The very marked differences in the Photoshop tests confirm the very different profiles of these machines. The DHT test uses a lot of old filters, so that the differences are erased in excess of five hearts (real and virtual) so the iMac is the hand with its higher frequency. The RAT test, it is much more realistic and simulates the touch of a photo with the latest filters: Although Photoshop performance peaked with massively multi-core configurations, the Mac Pro are Westmere at this time.

A beautiful iMac € 2 700 can be put in the closet of Mac Pro much more expensive? In most areas, yes, and widely: it shows, once again, the effectiveness of the Sandy Bridge Intel platform. The self in need of power will therefore turn to the iMac, which is not only the most powerful iMac ever made by Apple, but Mac is also one of the most powerful of the current range. The difference between these two lines is therefore not about raw power, but the concept: the iMac is an all-in-one, unlike the Mac Pro, which is still relevant for its scalability, ensuring a sustainability specific to dampen investment, therefore that represent the largest configurations. It also remains the machine of choice for certain niches, here for its computational capabilities, there to him the possibility of adding expansion cards. Still, the iMac is more than ever like the computer to do everything from Apple.
